Tiffany Winter is a public health professional who is passionate and committed to implementing strategies to help reduce the health disparities and inequities that plague the Black community. She aims to be a vessel for change merging her personal and professional experience to encourage healthier behaviors. She currently works as a Program Officer at the National Foundation for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention where she manages the implementation of a portfolio of projects that include addressing issues such as pregnancy related mortality and cardiovascular disease in the Black community through private/public partnerships. Prior to that, she was a Program Manager at MD Anderson Cancer Center, creating an avenue for statewide and local community impact with researchers at the institution. Throughout her career, she gained experience working within various settings from local government, a state university system, healthcare, and now a non-profit organization.
At the root of it all, Tiffany is a data-to-action person. She has a skill to turn numbers into stories and identify successes and gaps to reach a goal. This is what she brings as part of her commitment to the Houston Area Urban League Young Professionals where she is currently the Virtual Event Coordinator. Tiffany supports the chapter ELT with implementing virtual events to provide opportunities for increased member engagement as well as strive to increase cross-chapter collaboration. She is also a current member of the NULYP Membership and Retention National Committee. Prior to being the Virtual Event Coordinator, Tiffany was the Membership Engagement Co-chair from January 2023 to March 2024 where she and her co-chair used the available data to implement strategic efforts to increase and maintain chapter membership and lay the foundation to improve data collection efforts.
Her personal and professional chapters of life is summarized by a quote from Michelle Obama that states “becoming requires equal parts patience and rigor.” Originally from Stone Mountain, GA, Tiffany enjoys watching documentaries, doing 1000-piece puzzles, and traveling.
Tiffany has a bachelor’s degree in human development and family science with a minor in consumer economics from the University of Georgia. After an internship assisting with the planning of a county-wide mobile farmers market to address food deserts in DeKalb County, GA, she went on to obtain her master’s degree in public health with a concentration in health behavior from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has volunteered her time in various capacities for professional and community organizations such as the American Lung Association, the Cancer Alliance of Texas, and the American Public Health Association. However, all these combined doesn’t compare to her joy of volunteering through the Urban League Young Professionals.
