Dr. Racquel Armstrong is a Presidential Postdoctoral Scholar at Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University and currently serves in a dual role as the Chair for the Committee on Social Action for the Tempe Alumnae Chapter and the Arizona State Social Action Coordinator for Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She formerly served for 8 years as a school administrator in primarily middle level urban schools. Her research focuses on carceral logics in schools, which includes the school-to-prison pipeline, and self-care as a leadership practice, on which she has published and delivered a TedX Talk. In addition, she runs RL Consulting, where she delivers cutting-edge workshops and professional development for school districts and non-profit organizations all over the globe. She recently launched a non-profit arm called A Burst of Light, where she provides space for leaders in public service to build community and support their sustainability in their respective fields. She is the recipient of several awards for her dedication to public service and research including the Social Justice Dissertation Award from AERA and the Dean’s Award for Excellence from The Ohio State University. Racquel is also a performance poet that leverages her artistic talents to further support her social justice aims. Racquel holds a B.A. from Wellesley College, a M.S.Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania, a M.B.A. from the Fisher College of Business, and a Ph.D. from The Ohio State University.
